Ubud has far more cafés than one visit can cover, so it helps to sort them by what you want from the next hour. Some are coffee rooms where the roast is the point. Some are plant-based kitchens built around a wellness idea. And some are Balinese family warungs where lunch is a plate of rice and side dishes. Every place below is on Pinlora and matched to its Google Maps listing; hours are as shown on those listings, so check before you go.
Coffee first
Seniman Coffee Studio sits on Jalan Sri Wedari in central Ubud and is listed as a micro-roastery that treats coffee as a craft: pour-overs, siphons and espresso. The listing shows it open 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
Pison Ubud is the opposite mood. It is a multi-level pavilion with open walls over rice fields in Katik Lantang, in Singakerta, and the kitchen leans towards Australian-style brunch. It is open 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM on its listing. It is outside the town centre, so plan it as a stop in itself rather than a quick coffee.
If you want coffee in a place with a longer menu, Milk & Madu Ubud is an open-air pavilion just north of the Ubud Royal Palace on Jalan Suweta. Its listing mentions specialty coffee, smoothie bowls, breakfast skillets and sourdough pizza, and a family-friendly mood. Hours on the listing: 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Plant-based kitchens
Ubud's plant-based scene is large enough for its own guide; our vegan and vegetarian list and the article Plant-Based Ubud go deeper. For a café stop, these stand out in the listings:
- Sayuri Healing Food, on Jalan Sukma Kesuma, describes itself around raw, organic food and raw vegan cakes. It is listed 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
- Kafe Ubud has served from a two-storey wooden townhouse on Jalan Hanoman since 2005, with organic fair-trade coffee and vegan curries on the menu. Listed 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
- Clear Cafe, also on Jalan Hanoman, is known for its building: a round wooden entrance, a shoe-free bamboo floor and koi ponds indoors. Listed 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
- Zest Ubud is a hilltop bamboo-and-stone pavilion above the Campuhan valley on Jalan Raya Penestanan, with a plant-based menu. Listed 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
- Alchemy Bali is a raw vegan café and apothecary that opened in Penestanan in 2011. Listed 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM.
- Sage Bali is a 100% plant-based restaurant in the quieter artisan village of Nyuh Kuning, south of the Monkey Forest.
Quiet and green
Yellow Flower Cafe is on the pedestrian paths of Penestanan Kaja, an open-air wooden cottage over a river valley. The listing describes organic, locally sourced meals, including Balinese red rice, and shows hours of 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Reaching it means walking, which is half the pleasure and the reason to go before the heat builds.
A warung lunch
Not every Ubud meal needs to be a wellness meal. Puspa's Warung is a family-run Balinese eatery on Jalan Sugriwa No. 46 serving nasi campur and nasi goreng, with vegetarian options. Its listing notes the owner announced a move from the previous location and a reopening on 6 April 2026, so confirm the address before you set out. Sun Sun Warung serves home-style Balinese cooking inside a family compound on Jalan Jembawan, entered through a traditional split gate. For more, see the local warungs guide.
How to plan it
- Cluster by street. Jalan Hanoman (Kafe Ubud, Clear Cafe) and Penestanan (Alchemy, Zest, Yellow Flower) are walkable clusters. Pison needs its own trip.
- Go early. Many of the listed places open at 7:00 or 7:30 AM, and a morning visit avoids midday heat and the busiest part of the day.
- Check before you go. Menus, prices and hours change. We have not listed prices because they move; look at each venue's own page or social account.
- Mix the day. A coffee at Seniman, a walk through Penestanan and a warung lunch covers all three kinds of Ubud café in one day.
