Pinlora

Privacy

The short version

You don’t need an account to use Pinlora. We count how places are used so the businesses on it know what Pinlora does for them, and we keep those counts anonymous. We don’t sell data, and we don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

Last updated 1 October 2026.

What we count

When you open a place, save it, add it to a trip plan, or tap its Website, WhatsApp, Call, Instagram or Directions button, we record that it happened, together with:

  • where you came from (for example the map, a search on Pinlora, one of our stories, or a search engine),
  • your browser’s language and whether you’re on a phone, tablet or computer,
  • the time, and the search words that showed a place (without anything that identifies you).

To avoid counting the same visit twice, we turn your IP address and browser into a scrambled code that changes every day. The code can’t be turned back into your address, and we don’t keep IP addresses at all. Businesses on Pinlora only ever see totals, such as “1,236 visits this month”, never anything about a person.

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we don’t count anything you do.

What stays on your device

Your saved places, trip plan, dates and notes are stored in your browser, not on our servers. A share link carries the plan inside the link itself. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Cookies

We set two cookies that the site needs to work securely (a session cookie and a security token against forged forms). There are no advertising, analytics or social media cookies.

Other services involved

  • Fonts come from Google Fonts, and the map library from unpkg. Your browser contacts them to download these files.
  • Map tiles come from Esri. Your browser asks them for the map images of the area you’re looking at.
  • Weather comes from MET Norway. Our server asks them, your browser doesn’t.
  • Directions, websites, WhatsApp and Instagram open those services. What happens there is covered by their own privacy policies. Links to a business’s website carry a tag saying the visit came from Pinlora.

Businesses and team accounts

If you have a Pinlora account as a business owner or part of our team, we keep your name, email address and a securely hashed password so you can sign in, plus the changes you make. Ask us and we’ll correct or delete your account.

How long we keep things

Anonymous counts are kept as long as they’re useful for monthly and yearly reports. Account data is kept while the account exists.

Your rights

Under Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) and, for visitors from Europe, the GDPR, you can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. For anonymous counts there is nothing that links back to you, so there is nothing to look up.
