Lake Buyan (Danau Buyan) is the second largest of Bali's three high-altitude volcanic caldera lakes, situated at roughly 1,210 meters above sea level in Pancasari village within the scenic Bedugul highland region of Buleleng. Along with neighboring Lake Tamblingan, it forms the celebrated "Twin Lakes" (Danau Kembar), separated only by a narrow rainforest ridge. Surrounded by mist-shrouded volcanic hills and lush montane evergreen forests, Lake Buyan remains remarkably peaceful and preserved from motorized water sports. The tranquil lake basin is encircled by strawberry farms, vegetable plantations, and shaded shores that host dedicated lakeside campgrounds, offering visitors a refreshing mountain escape characterized by crisp alpine breezes and glass-calm waters reflecting dramatic cloudscapes.
