Uluwatu Temple (Pura Luhur)
Busy 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM Found on Google Maps 2 Oct 2026
Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of Bali's six foundational spiritual pillars (Sad Kahyangan), dramatically situated atop a sheer 70-meter limestone cliff plunging into the Indian Ocean. Dedicated to Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa in his manifestation as Rudra, the ancient sea temple is revered for protecting the island from malevolent maritime spirits. Every evening, the temple's clifftop open-air amphitheater hosts world-famous Kecak and Fire Dance performances against the backdrop of the setting sun. A paved stone walkway winds along the rugged cliff rim, cutting through a dense coastal forest populated by a colony of free-roaming macaque monkeys.
