Ulun Danu Beratan Temple
$$ Found on Google Maps 5 Oct 2026
Pura Ulun Danu Beratan is a historic Balinese water temple established in 1633 on the calm shores of Lake Beratan in the cool, misty Bedugul highlands. Dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of lakes and rivers, the temple serves a vital spiritual role in blessing the agricultural irrigation waters across central Bali. Its multi-tiered meru towers\u2014rising 11 and 3 tiers high\u2014appear to float gracefully upon the water's surface when lake levels are high, set against verdant volcanic mountains. Immortalized on the Indonesian 50,000 Rupiah banknote, the scenic temple complex also houses manicured flower gardens, historical shrines, and traditional boating docks.
