Virgin Beach, locally known as Pantai Pasir Putih or Pantai Perasi, is a stunning crescent-shaped cove tucked between the verdant headlands of Bugbug and Perasi in East Bali's Karangasem regency. Unlike the prevailing black volcanic sand beaches of the eastern coast, this hidden gem features a rare stretch of soft golden-white sand bordered by vivid turquoise waters. The bay remains relatively uncommercialized, dotted with laid-back local warungs offering fresh seafood, chilled coconuts, and bamboo sun loungers sheltered beneath colorful umbrellas. The clear, gently sloping waters provide excellent conditions for swimming and nearshore snorkeling around the rocky coral outcrops on both flanks of the cove.

Insider tips

  1. 01

Free Loungers with Warung Orders. Most beachfront warungs will waive the daybed rental fee if you purchase lunch, fresh fruit juices, or a young coconut from them.

  2. 02

Snorkeling along the Headlands. Bring your own snorkeling mask and swim towards the rocky headland at the eastern edge of the bay, where tropical fish and sea turtles frequent the coral clusters.

  3. 03

Mid-Morning Arrival. Arrive before 11:00 AM to secure a front-row sun lounger under the shade trees before day-trippers and tour drivers arrive from Candidasa and Ubud.
