Menega Cafe
$$ Busy 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM (Dinner) Found on Google Maps 2 Oct 2026
Menega Cafe is the most celebrated and historic beachfront seafood institution on Muaya Beach along Jimbaran Bay. Diners personally select live and fresh catches from iced display counters at the entrance—including jumbo prawns, red snapper, squid, and spiny lobsters—which are weighed and grilled to order over open coconut husk charcoal pits. The seafood is generously basted with Menega's legendary secret sweet-and-spicy garlic glaze, served alongside steaming rice, plecing kangkung (water spinach with chili sambal), and fiery sambal matah. Hundreds of candlelit tables line the soft sand at water's edge, offering an unforgettable dining spectacle against the backdrop of Jimbaran's fiery ocean sunsets.
Insider tips
-
01
Beat the Massive Sunset Queues. Arrive by 4:45 PM to 5:15 PM without compromise; queues form down the alley by 5:30 PM, and prime beachfront tables closest to the water are claimed immediately.
-
02
Weigh-Station Ordering Strategy. Select your seafood directly at the front glass tanks and iced counter; opt for the jumbo king prawns, sweet clams, and whole red snapper, requesting extra house basting sauce on the side.
-
03
Avoid Roadside Broker Scams. Drive straight to the official Muaya Beach parking lot at the southern end of Jimbaran Bay and walk into Menega directly, ignoring aggressive roadside touts attempting to redirect you to inferior copycat warungs.
