Teletubbies Hill, known locally as Bukit Teletubbies, is a whimsical geological landscape situated in the rolling southern highlands of Nusa Penida. The attraction earned its playful name from its dozens of smooth, rounded green mound hills that bear an uncanny resemblance to the fictional setting of the beloved television show. Formed by natural karst limestone topography, the conical hills are blanketed with lush green meadows during and immediately following the tropical rainy season. The viewpoint provides a refreshing change of scenery from Nusa Penida's rugged coastal cliffs, offering sweeping 360-degree vistas across the island's interior hills and distant ocean.

Insider tips

  1. 01

Visit During the Green Season. For the iconic emerald-green rolling landscape, visit between January and May; by late dry season (August to October), the grass dries out into a savanna-like golden brown.

  2. 02

Drone Photography Paradise. Teletubbies Hill is one of the best locations on Nusa Penida for aerial drone photography, as top-down perspectives highlight the symmetrical rounded shapes of the knolls.

  3. 03

Mid-Afternoon Breezes. Because the hills sit in the island's highlands, afternoon breezes make it cooler than the coastline; arrive around 3:30 PM for softer golden sunlight without harsh midday shadows.
