Munduk Waterfall
Busy 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM Found on Google Maps 3 Oct 2026
Munduk Waterfall, also known locally as Air Terjun Red Coral (Air Terjun Tanah Barak), is a picturesque 15-meter-high jungle cascade tucked away in the misty, cool highlands of Munduk village in Buleleng Regency. Set amidst fertile agricultural mountain slopes cultivated with clove trees, vanilla vines, cacao, and coffee plantations, the waterfall plunges over a mossy volcanic rock wall into a shallow, rocky stream basin. Munduk has long been celebrated for its refreshing mountain climate, European colonial hill-station history, and pristine hiking trails. The waterfall forms part of a famous multi-waterfall trekking circuit connecting Red Coral, Golden Valley, Melanting, and Labuhan Kebo, offering one of Bali's premier ecotourism walking experiences.
Insider tips
-
01
Hike the Three-Waterfall Trek. Don't stop at Red Coral; continue along the shaded mountain walking trail for 2 to 3 hours to take in Melanting Waterfall and Golden Valley Waterfall, stopping at the Golden Valley Eco Cafe for organic local coffee.
-
02
Breathe the Spiced Mountain Air. The hiking trails pass directly through working spice plantations; visit between July and September during the clove harvest when drying cloves perfume the entire valley.
-
03
Afternoon Rain Preparation. Munduk's highland elevation (around 800–1,000m) means afternoon mountain rains and rolling mists are frequent; start your hike by 8:30 AM and pack a lightweight rain jacket.
