Diamond Beach
Busy 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM Found on Google Maps 1 Oct 2026
Diamond Beach is an awe-inspiring coastal wonder tucked beneath sheer white limestone cliffs on the southeastern tip of Nusa Penida. Named after the dramatic, diamond-shaped karst sea stacks rising from the turquoise Indian Ocean, the beach was inaccessible until a spectacular cliffside staircase was hand-carved into the rock in 2018. The steep descent provides jaw-dropping panoramic views of pristine white sands, palm trees, and radiant azure waters. At the base of the cliffs, travelers find an untouched natural paradise featuring silky sand, hidden sea arches, and iconic cliffside swings.
Insider tips
-
01
Strict Swell & Current Hazard. Swimming is extremely hazardous due to violent shore breaks, powerful undertows, and submerged coral; admire the turquoise water from the safety of the dry sand.
-
02
Morning Illumination. Visit between 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM when the morning sun directly illuminates the white sand and sea stacks; by mid-afternoon, the towering cliffs cast heavy shadows.
-
03
Combine with Atuh Beach. Diamond Beach shares the same cliff ridge and parking lot as Atuh Beach; walk across the saddle trail to easily experience both world-famous beaches in one trip.
