Brahma Vihara Arama
Busy 09:00 AM - 11:00 AM Found on Google Maps 3 Oct 2026
Brahma Vihara Arama, located amidst the peaceful mountain foothills of Banjar near Lovina in North Bali, is the island's largest and most significant Buddhist monastery (Vihara). Founded in 1969 by the revered Bhikkhu Girirakkhito, the five-acre sanctuary is an architectural marvel that seamlessly blends classical Theravada Buddhist elements with traditional Balinese stone carving aesthetics. Perched on a gentle ridge overlooking rolling green hills and the distant Bali Sea, the grounds feature terraced gardens, lotus ponds, gilded statues of the Buddha in various mudras, and serene meditation halls (Dhammasala). The crowning jewel of the estate is a magnificent miniature stone replica of Central Java's world-famous Borobudur temple, offering a deeply peaceful retreat for meditation and contemplation.
