Batur Natural Hot Spring, located in the village of Toya Bungkah, is a popular geothermal wellness retreat situated along the western edge of Lake Batur in Kintamani. Heated deep underground by volcanic activity from active Mount Batur, the natural mineral-rich spring waters emerge at temperatures ranging between 38°C and 45°C (100°F to 113°F). The facility features several terraced bathing pools and an expansive infinity pool that overlooks the calm waters of the crater lake and the majestic ridge of Mount Abang. It serves as the ultimate relaxation stop for hikers to soak tired muscles and rejuvenate following an early morning Mount Batur sunrise trek.

Insider tips

  1. 01

Post-Trek Warm-Up. Visit immediately after completing your Mount Batur sunrise climb (around 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM) to soothe sore leg muscles while the air is still crisp and cool.

  2. 02

Choice of Facilities. There are two main hot spring facilities side by side (Batur Natural Hot Spring and Toya Devasya); Batur Natural Hot Spring offers a more traditional layout with lakeside views at slightly lower entry prices.

  3. 03

Dark Swimwear Recommended. Minerals and natural sulfur in the geothermal water can impart a faint yellowish tint to light-colored swimwear, so opt for dark clothing.
